Around the world, Cowes is the town people think of when the Isle of Wight is mentioned, Cowes is a fantastic holiday town located on the very northern tip of the Isle of Wight, perfect for couples and group holidays, along the towns pedestrianised High Street you will find a wealth of specialty shops, art galleries, and boutiques. Cowes town is a popular destination for an evening out as many of its bars have entertainment nightly throughout the year. If you are looking for a festive break a New Year in Cowes is a must with its array of bars and restaurants a real party feel comes to the town over this period with many of its residents and visitors donning fancy dress for the night.

The town is most famous for Cowes Week, which takes place in early August and sees the whole town transformed into an international venue for competition on sea, and entertainment on land, the town is not only the yachting center of the Isle of Wight but arguably the world. A visit to Cowes Week is a must for any visitor to the Island, not only to appreciate the riot of excitement and colour out at sea, but also to enjoy the electric atmosphere ashore. During the week the Yacht Haven buzzes with live entertainment and events, and in the evenings crew members relax and discuss the day’s results in one of the towns many restaurants and pubs (reputedly having more per square mile than any other town in the UK).

Gurnard on the other hand is a quaint quiet village with an attractive beach with a mixture of shelving sand and shingle to the west of Cowes. It offers the ideal location for family bathing, as well as being a good spot for water sports such as windsurfing, sailing and jet skiing. A distinctive promenade lined with beach huts sits alongside the beach, leading to a grass embankment which is ideal for picnics and family games.

Gurnard Beach is a quaint traditional, pebble and shingle beach, within walking distance of Cowes on the north west coast of the Isle of Wight, with great views across the Solent, and some of the best sunsets you are likely to find!

It is bordered by attractive, beach huts, mainly painted green, Behind the beach huts is a large sloped green with children's playground area and Public toilets

Here too sits Gurnard Sailing Club. Sailing and watersports are popular pastimes at this beach.

Beyond the green you will find The Woodvale, a traditional pub offering the perfect views for watching boats sail past and the spectacular sunsets.

Gurnard is a great location to stay, enjoy the beach, walk into Cowes or use as a base to explore our Island.

Keeping to the nautical history of the area, our cottages are all named after the sails found on many old square-rigged sailing ships such as HMS Victory.
